Il Grottino di Zio Totò

The ancient flavours of Umbrian tradition

“Il Grottino di Zio Totò”, a family-run restaurant, is situated in the medioeval village of Monte Castello di Vibio, adjacent to the walls.

The restaurant offers a typical cuisine linked to the old flavours of Umbrian tradition, taking great care over the genuineness and seasonality of the products selected. Born from Massimo's passion for cooking, “Grottino di zio Totò” is entirely run by his family. Characterized by the owners' welcoming kindness, it offers a hospitality which makes you feel more a friend than a customer. “Grottino di zio Totò” is ideal for spending an evening in good company or celebrating special events and occasions, and it is suitable for small groups upon reservation.

During the warmer months “Grottino di zio Totò” offers its customers the opportunity of eating outdoors in the garden. Risotto with asparagus or porcino mushrooms, tagliolini with pizzagalli or sugo d'oca (fine noodles with mushroom or goose sauce), umbricelli al tartufo (another type of pasta with truffle), pappardelle al cinghiale (noodles with wild boar meat sauce), palombe alla ghiotta (roasted doves), wild boar “cacciatore style” or with truffle and porcino mushrooms, juniper pheasant, jugged hare, first and second courses of fish and home-made cakes. All of which are introductions to a cuisine filled with genuine flavour and balanced gastronomic combinations that reflect the seasonal nature of the various agricultural products. The main base is the genuineness of Umbrian oil, always present in the special game, vegetable, and barbecued meat dishes, together with the excellent traditional wine of the Umbrian wine growers and producers. “Grottino di zio Totò” also ensures a personalized menu and the discretion of a private dining room.
